“The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog” is now available to download on Steam for Free
The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog is a 2023 point-and-click visual novel video game that Sega Social Team created and released for macOS and Windows. As part of the investigation into Sonic’s alleged murder on Amy Rose’s birthday, the player interacts with a number of Sonic the Hedgehog characters. To celebrate with April Fool’s Day in 2023, Sega released The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog as freeware on March 31. Since its release, players have left “Overwhelmingly Good” reviews about the game.
Sega claims that the game is set on Amy Rose’s birthday on the game’s Steam page, which I must underline is true and exists. On the Mirage Express, she is hosting a murder mystery gathering. Sonic becomes the first victim, although the game’s description claims that something feels a bit wrong. Is it really just a game, or is there something more sinister going on?
While they strive to determine who killed Sonic and why, Sega claims that players will have the opportunity to question some of their favourite characters. The sceneries and character art in the game are all hand-drawn. However, as stated on the game’s Steam website, the Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog wasn’t developed by Sonic Team.
The Sonic Origins Plus upgrade, scheduled to debut on June 23, was announced by Sega last week. In the upgrade, 12 new Game Gear titles are included in addition to additional features, such as the ability to play as Amy Rose in Sonic 1, 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Knuckles in Sonic CD.
